Smoke Daddy’s Review of Lazy J Bar-B-Que
<<Update: Looks like this joint has received a significant facelift… possible change in ownership? Hope the physical changes are mirrored in the food operations!>>
- Brisket – Where’s the smoke? Pot-roast consistency… its been slow-cooking in the oven for quite a while.
- Spare Rib – Tender… but where’s the FLAVOR?
- Sausage – Nothing special here.
- Pork Chop: The first chop on the tour draws initial excitement… but we’re disappointed with the skinny, boneless version of a ‘pork chop’ served here. Leaves me flat.
OTHER FARE:

OTHER FARE:
- Potato Salad – creamy. soft taters, but still very bland.
- Beans – good texture, nice flavor. The beans may be the best thing here!
ATMOSPHERE:
- Nice looking joint; We pull up out front just before an outer band of ‘Claudette’ blows through.
- Very sturdy furniture.
- All women crew working behind the counter…
- Nice folks with a Southern Pride gas cooker… however, there was no wood in this oven during our tour.
- We look longingly across the way at Cow Camp BBQ (not open on Wednesday), and wonder if we’ve chosen wisely.
