Main Fare:

  • Brisket is not fully rendered.  The meat accordians, but won’t pull apart.  Chewy.  Bark is bitter.
  • Rib is fully rendered and pulls of the bone easily.  Meat is salty all the way through – brined?
  • Sausage is sliced lengthwise (ala Kansas City).  Salami flavor profile with black pepper.
  • Jalapeno Cheese sausage is also sliced lenthwise.  It is chewy and spicy.

  • Slaw is fresh and leafy and green.  Good veggies and black pepper spice.  Nice.
  • Potato salad is mayo-based and good.  Mashed texture with chunks of tater.
  • Baked beans are standard fare.

Atmosphere:

  • Nice folks behind the counter
  • It is slow now, but they say lunch was busy and we’ve beaten the dinner crowd.
  • Medium-sized seating area is comfortable and hosts many knick-knacks.
  • Large picture of The Duke is always good for barbecue atmosphere.
