- Atmosphere: Original location. Grocery/Antiques/BBQ. Lady at the grocery counter says we’ve found the best ‘Q in Fort Worth. Separate food & beverage counters, with a single cashier at the end of the line. Picnic-style tables run through the middle of the joint. Picture of the Tyler Rose found in the bric-a-brac while waiting in line.
- Spare Rib: Great flavor. Flat rib is a bit tough. Bark is good – salt and pepper rub. The meat is rich and good.
- Sides: Pea Salad – Fresh, with chunks of cheddar. Fresh veggies with a crunch. This may be their best side item today
- Atmosphere: X-Mas sauce is good on the bologna. Contains cinnamon and nutmeg? K-Dog says: ‘You could drink this in a cup.’ Like wassail.
- Plus: This location cooks and distributes BBQ to the other Riscky’s stores. Yet another reason to always visit the the original location!
- Coleslaw: Crunchy. Chopped-style leaf, with a thin mayo-based sauce. Fairly bland.
- Beans: They still have just a little crunch to them. Mild – not much spice. A bit bland for my taste.
- Hot Link: Doesn’t seem to have much of a meaty flavor, but its got a nice spice.
- Bologna: Automagically sauced with a ‘X-Mas’ sauce containing spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. Weird, but it works well with the bologna.
- Sausage: Buttery. Hillshire Farms or Eckrich? (Like Baker’s Rib). OK on spice, but a little too salty for my taste. Meat flavor leaves me a bit empty.
- Brisket: Brisket Rules! Tender, smokey, with a little fat on top. Not falling apart, but close. It is moist enough, but I wouldn’t call it juicy. Excellent.
- Potato Salad: Yellow. Somewhat of a ‘mushed’ potato salad. Good mustard flavor. I like it.
