    • Atmosphere: Surrounded by scalding black asphalt at 10:30 am – nice. The structure is a model of marginal capital expansion – everything is grafted (poorly) onto the concrete block base. I love the schoolroom seating. ZZ Top comes on the radio as we order – the tour is underway! Presentation is on plastic plates – there is a good-sized smudge on mine of unknown origin.
    • Sausage: Very soft and homogeneous. Texture is almost storebought. Slight spice but otherwise unremarkable.
    • Beef: Tender. Dark but shallow ring. Sauce drowned the flavor – in our rush to get started we neglected to specify that it be put on the side.
    • Spare Rib: Very tender. Good flavor, but again the sauce is overpowering.
    • Coleslaw: Thick cabbage, thin creamy sauce. Just a slight twang – like the sausage it seems designed not to offend.
    • Beans: A bit unique – slightly sharp and bitter – very tasty but a bit overcooked.
    • Overall: A classic joint.
    • Potato Salad: No different than Tom Thumb grocery.
